THE PREDICTION
This is a really intriguing clash between world number 10 Diego Schwartzman and number 132 Philipp Kohlschreiber, with the veteran the winner of their only previous meeting. 37-year-old Kohlschreiber won at the Vienna Open four years ago, which should not count for much here on Schwartzman’s favoured surface clay, but the German has come from obscurity at Roland-Garros to beat Fernando Verdasco and now, shockingly, Aslan Karatsev. Kohlschreiber must not be underestimated any further in this competition and 28-year-old Schwartzman will have to be at his best to stop this momentum. The Argentine has won both of his matches in straight sets so far but his confidence still needs boosting by a big result and Kohlschreiber could exploit that with a fast start. Realistically the world number 10 should be winning this in three but even winning it seems a difficult call now.
