World number eight Roger Federer looked in excellent shape against Denis Istomin on Monday afternoon, coming through his first Roland-Garros match in comfortable straight sets, but he faces a altogether tougher prospect now in Marin Cilic. 32-year-old Cilic overcame a solid challenge by Arthur Rinderknech in the first round, also in three sets, and the Croat has beaten Federer once before en-route to his only Grand Slam win at the 2014 US Open.
