World number 42 Jan-Lennard Struff was exceptional in a fiercely contested five-set battle against Andrey Rublev on Tuesday, avenging a defeat by the Russian at the Italian Open last month. The 31-year-old is an excellent clay-court competitor and fit enough to start this second round match with Facundo Bagnis in the same intensity. World number 104 Bagnis enjoyed some success on the South American clay swing earlier this year and played well to beat Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi in straight sets on Tuesday but the Argentine is in for a tough time of it on Thursday afternoon. Struff’s performance against Rublev is enough to suggest he can win this in straight sets but Bagnis is no pushover on this surface so take the German to win outright here.
