THE PREDICTION
This is a high-quality second round match between world number 29 Fabio Fognini and number 44 Marton Fucsovics well worth a watch on Wednesday morning. Both came through their first round matches with aplomb, Fognini sweeping aside Gregoire Barrere and Fucsovics taking out Gilles Simon in three, and form suggests there are sets in this for both players. 34-year-old Fognini has struggled at times to impose himself on a draw but a winnable first round fixture in Paris has made him more dangerous, although Fucsovics is exactly the kind of player that infuriates the firebrand Italian. 29-year-old Fucsovics will positively chase every ball from Fognini’s super precise shot-making which should create a compelling battle that looks hard to side with at this stage. The winner of the first set in this one will more than likely go on to win but take this match to see at least four sets if that is an option. Otherwise, Fucsovics has had the better year on tour and the Hungarian should be able to take at least a set here.
