THE PREDICTION
World number 154 Botic Van de Zandschulp caused one of the shocks of the first round by ousting an out-of-sorts Hubert Hurkacz on Sunday, coming back from two sets down to beat the Pole on his Roland-Garros debut. The Dutchman made his overall Grand Slam debut at the Australian Open earlier this year but claimed his first win at this level on Sunday and that will be a powerful momentum for 21-year-old Alejandro Davidovich Fokina to combat here. The world number 46 had a comfortable time of it in the first round against Mikhail Kukushkin but he will have to cope with the pressure of being solid favourite here after an excellent clay swing so far. ADF is good enough to take this first meeting between the two in three sets but given Van de Zandschulp’s last performance it is wiser to take the Spaniard as outright winner here.
