THE PREDICTION
This first meeting between world number 85 Tamara Zidansek and number 35 Paula Badosa should be one of high intensity between two 23 year olds playing the biggest match of their careers so far. Neither player had made the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam before this Roland-Garros campaign but in Zidansek’s case it is quite the surprise. The Slovenian took out sixth-seed Bianca Andreescu in the first round and has not looked back since with a series of searing performances and she will be fearless against Badosa, who has enjoyed a much stronger year on tour. The Spaniard won her first WTA title at the Serbia Open before the French Open and made the semi-finals of her native Madrid Masters last month with full-bodied clay performances full of heart. Badosa is the favourite for this match but this could go any which way. Take Badosa to win at least a set here but three sets is also a distinct possibility.
