THE PREDICTION
World number six Alexander Zverev has improved with every round at Roland-Garros and a straight-sets dismissal of Kei Nishikori on Sunday night was mightily impressive given the Japanese’s penchant for a five-setter. 24-year-old Zverev leads 21-year-old Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 2-0 in their head-to-head record with two comfortable wins on hard courts last season but this should be altogether different on Tuesday. There is no doubt that world number 46 Davidovich Fokina has finally arrived to a level he has been craving and the Spaniard is performing all the better for it. His five set slog against Casper Ruud was vastly impressive in the third round but a more assured performance against in-form Federico Delbonis was perhaps more promising. ADF should be able to win at least a set from this encounter and will likely win over a large part of the crowd in what looks set to be an epic. Zverev should still ultimately come through this test but take the Spaniard to win at least a set here.
