20-year-old Sebastian Korda won his first ever ATP title on Saturday by beating Marco Cecchinato in the Emilia-Romagna Open final and the American rose up to a career-high world number 50 as a result. After struggling to transition his strong hard-court form to the clay the promising youngster should be able to start strongly at Roland-Garros like he dis last season, where it took Rafael Nadal to oust him in the round of 16 in an incredible French Open debut. World number 103 Pedro Martinez will be a thorn in the American’s side throughout here but Korda did not drop a set all last week in Parma and if he can bring that attitude to Paris this could be over in three sets. The title-winning curse could be afoot here, however, so taking Korda to win outright in anticipation of a lapse in concentration over five sets is the wisest option.
