THE PREDICTION
This should be a pretty intriguing first encounter between world number 35 Reilly Opelka and number 108 Andrej Martin with both players recently putting in some strong performances. 23-year-old Opelka came out of nowhere at the Italian Open, blitzing through to the semi-finals before eventual champion Rafael Nadal ousted the big-serving American and if he can find that rhythm again he will take some serious stopping. 31-year-old Martin’s flurry of form has come even more recently as he made it through to the semi-finals of last week’s Belgrade 2 Open and, fantastically, took a set from eventual champion Novak Djokovic before defeat there. The Slovak beat two strong clay competitors in Nikoloz Basilashvili and Dusan Lajovic to make the semis but Opelka is a completely different challenge and it is hard to see him breaking the American’s serve. On the off chance he does, though, take Opelka to win outright and at least one tiebreak in the match.
