Norbert Gombos and Pablo Carreno Busta have faced each other twice before and oddly enough this will be their third match in France after Gombos won in three at the Montpellier Open last year and PCB won in two at last November’s Paris Masters. 30-year-old Gombos has reached three quarter-finals at ATP 250 events this season on his favoured clay and the Slovakian will be dangerous throughout against Carreno Busta here, who starts on Sunday as the 12th seed. 29-year-old Carreno Busta has taken a few weeks off after pulling out of the Italian Open through injury and whilst in normal service he should be winning this his questionable match fitness and Gombos’ recent form must not be underestimated. Take the Slovakian to win at least a set here with this match looking like a potential four or five-setter.
