French wildcard Mathias Bourgue has only played four tour-level matches in his career so far and the 27-year-old should enjoy the occasion of returning Roland-Garros crowds when he faces Dominik Koepfer for a first time. Koepfer, also 27, has been enjoying a solid season so far on his favoured red surface and the left-hander is a robust player who fights hard for every point. Since reaching a Challenger final back in April, Bourgue has lost his last three matches on the circuit and looks unlikely to spoil Koepfer’s form here. The German reached the quarter-finals of the Geneva Open last week and took a set off in-form Casper Ruud before losing to the eventual champion there so take Koepfer to win this first round tie outright.
