THE PREDICTION
This will be an intriguing first round match at Roland-Garros between former world number three Marin Cilic and 25-year-old Arthur Rinderknech, who recently reached a career-high 117th in the world after reaching the semi-finals of the Lyon Open. The Frenchman will enjoy more support than he likely has yet experienced and he certainly has the game to break into the top 100 very soon. Rinderknech has beaten Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and, impressively, Jannik Sinner more recently at last week’ Lyon Open this year so Cilic will do well not to underestimate his first opponent here. 32-year-old Cilic has been incredibly tough to pin down this season and the Croat should be winning this match on paper but Rinderknech is well capable of taking this all the way. Take Rinderknech to win at least a set in this match that could go to five.
