THE PREDICTION
This could be a candidate for five sets in the first meeting between world number 54 Lloyd Harris and number 28 Lorenzo Sonego with both players showing flurries of great form this season. 24-year-old Harris has enjoyed most of his success on hard courts this year, notably reaching his first ATP 500 final in a loss to Aslan Karatsev at the Dubai Open, but the South African should be a test for Sonego throughout this encounter. 26-year-old Sonego bombed out of last week’s Emilia-Romagna Open in the first round to eventual champion Sebastian Korda but the Italian was likely still coping with the hangover of an exceptional campaign in his native Rome Masters. Sonego beat Gael Monfils, Dominic Thiem and Andrey Rublev on his way to the semi-finals in Rome and took a set off Novak Djokovic before losing to the world number one to show for excellent clay form coming into Paris. Take Sonego to win this tough first match outright but Harris to win at least a set could be worth a punt
