22-year-old Casper Ruud won the Geneva Open last weekend by beating Denis Shapovalov in straight sets and the Norwegian should be one to watch this fortnight in Paris. Very few players have played better than Ruud on the clay swing this season and he already has a solid, powerful game on this surface that he continues to develop each and every week. He takes on Benoit Paire for a second time having beaten the Frenchman at last season’s Hamburg Open on clay and it should be much the same in this first round match. 32-year-old Paire has struggled with seemingly several different issues for some time and this tie should be left out of an accumulator seeing as he retired from his last match against Jaume Munar on Wednesday. Ruud has a point to prove at this Slam as a player with definite future potential of winning here and he should be take this in straight sets.
