Italian veteran Andreas Seppi begins his 16th Roland-Garros campaign with a terribly tough first round opponent in world number 21 Felix Auger-Aliassime. 37-year-old Seppi once reached the round of 16 here in 2012 but he has lost in the first round of each of his last three French Open campaigns and is yet to win a match on tour this season as his career winds down. On the other side of that spectrum is 20-year-old Auger-Aliassime, coached on this clay swing by Toni Nadal no less, and the Canadian is beginning to find his feet on this surface. Recent wins on clay against Diego Schwartzman and Denis Shapovalov suggest he will have more than enough to come through this first meeting with Seppi and most likely in three.
