THE PREDICTION
World number six Alexander Zverev’s form has been questionable at times this season but the German has won two titles already this year and he is a serious contender for the final in this side of the draw. The 24-year-old beat Rafael Nadal, Dominic Thiem and Matteo Berrettini on his way to a second Madrid Open title, on clay, and Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Mexican Open final earlier in the season to show for his chances at Roland-Garros but he has been guilty of complacent starts to Grand Slams in the past. Fellow German Oscar Otte will target a fast start here against his compatriot, and we may see a shaky first-set tiebreak before Zverev finds his rhythm, but he should still be able to come through this first meeting in straight sets.
