World number 42 Marin Cilic took a first-set tiebreak against old foe Kevin Anderson before the South African was forced to retire from their quarter-final. The Croat will be glad of the rest following two three-set matches to reach that stage but the match was tight and it is hard to say who would have won if Anderson had been able to continue. 32-year-old Cilic faces Cameron Norrie for a first time now with the left-handed Brit in some excellent form on this surface. 25-year-old Norrie came back from a set down to beat a champion on clay this season in Cristian Garin and the 25-year-old’s recent performances make him look the favourite here if he can hold his nerve. Cilic is no stranger to a long match and nor has Norrie been this year. For want of a result, which should go to Cilic but in their current form looks like another big win for the Brit, take this match to need three sets.
