This is an enticing first meeting between two Spaniards on clay in the semi-finals of the Estoril Open with world number 46 Albert Ramos-Vinolas taking on world number 48 Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. 33-year-old Ramos-Vinolas has a wealth of experience on this surface and used it well to take out a tricky Corentin Moutet in straight sets on Friday to maintain a spotless record so far this week. It has taken top 20 players to beat the elder Spaniard in each of his last three tournaments on clay but 21-year-old Davidovich Fokina is playing like one right now in the clay swing and has already seen off an elder, Spanish specialist in Pablo Andujar this week. Both have played well enough this week for this to be the final in Estoril but given this is their first meeting it is difficult to pick between Ramos-Vinolas’ experience and Davidovich Fokina’s raw, burgeoning talent. Three sets would also be something of a guess here, with both capable of powering through in two. On the level of opponents beaten this week, take the younger Spaniard to reach the final but this match could go either way.
