THE PREDICTION
World number 50 Lloyd Harris claimed the win of his young career by beating world number three Rafael Nadal in three sets on Thursday. The 24-year-old went a set up and then fought well to win the decider against an out-of-sorts Nadal but his victory is no less impressive against one of the greatest of all time and it should do wonders for his self-belief. Harris reached the Dubai Open final, also an ATP 500 event, earlier this year and lost to Aslan Karatsev and there is no reason why he could not go one better now after taking out the top seed. In his way is Kei Nishikori who put in one of his best performances in recent months to oust in-form Cam Norrie over three sets. The 31-year-old has put his Tokyo 2020 disappointment clearly to one side and is now the most experienced champion left in the draw here, well capable of going on to win this wide-open Citi Open title.
South African Harris beat Nishikori in three sets on his way to the aforementioned Dubai Open final and both players taking a set here looks a reasonable outcome once again.
