World number 130 Jenson Brooksby shocked the second seed Felix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets to reach the quarter-finals of his second-successive ATP tournament. The 20-year-old lost to Kevin Anderson in the final of the Hall of Fame Open last month but he avenged that by beating the South African in the first round this week in Washington. Three impressive wins so far makes the youngster a real contender for another final here if not the title with so many top players falling out of the draw but he will have to avenge another defeat when facing John Millman for a second time. 32-year-old Millman comfortably beat a teenage Brooksby at the US Open back in 2018 but there is a sense of a reversal about this quarter-final. The Aussie beat Reilly Opelka handily in the round of 16 and will be combative throughout this match but Brooksby’s star is rising and taking the youngster to win at least a set here seems a reasonable outcome.
