The Canada Masters draw has thrown up plenty of interesting repeats in the second round and this one could be third time lucky for Tommy Paul. The world number 56 has lost twice to Roberto Bautista Agut this year on clay at the Monte-Carlo Open and Italian Open in straight sets but the Spaniard’s form has drifted a little in recent weeks. Currently ranked fairly low for his standards at world number 17, RBA has lost three matches in a row starting from his round of 16 defeat by Denis Shapovalov at Wimbledon last month, with two players around the top 100 beating him in Gstaad and Kitzbuhel. The 33-year-old is still the favourite to come through this second round encounter but 24-year-old Paul will never have a better opportunity to break his duck and his win over Vasek Pospisil in the second round was impressive. Take Paul to win at least a set here in a match that could go either way.
