THE PREDICTION
Less than a week after the biggest night of hi career to date, Lloyd Harris will face an immediate rematch with world number four Rafael Nadal. The 24-year-old beat Nadal in three sets in the round of 16 at the Citi Open in Washington last Friday in a hugely impressive upset but the South African could not maintain that level and lost to Kei Nishikori in the quarter-finals. The world number 49 was granted an easy way through the first round here in beating Brayden Schnur in straight sets to set up this mouth-watering clash to once again play the role as Nadal’s first opponent at a tournament.
Six-time Canada Masters champion Nadal is unlikely to let this match out of his grasp at any stage and he will be totally focused on winning in as ruthless a method as possible to make last week look like a hiccup. The 35-year-old is certainly more penetrable on this surface these days than others but a vengeful Nadal with more match practice in his legs is a different animal and he should be able to come through this time in straight sets.
