THE PREDICTION
World number 18 Alex de Minaur has struggled on tour since winning the Eastbourne international back in June. The 22-year-old lost in four sets to Sebastian Korda in the first round of Wimbledon and then fell to a real upset against Steve Johnson last week in Washington. In his way is world number 42 Nikoloz Basilashvili, who despite an up and down season has won two titles in Qatar and Munich.
De Minaur has also won two ATP titles this season, most recently on grass at Eastbourne. His first came at the start of the season at the Antalya Open in which he beat Nikoloz Basilashvili in straight sets in the quarter-finals. Basilashvili is one of the harder players to predict on tour and his defeat of in-form Jenson Brooksby was an impressive one on Tuesday. This could be worth leaving alone for its unpredictability but taking De Minaur to win outright is probably the likeliest way this one falls.
