THE PREDICTION

This looks a really robust, tight final between Jan-Lennard Struff and Nikoloz Basilashvili with their head-to-head record neatly poised at 2-2. 31-year-old Struff will be disappointed to have a tilt at his first ever ATP title here without home fans present and that could go against the German here although he has been impressive all week, especially in overcoming Ilya Ivashka after the Belarusian had beaten Alexander Zverev. Basilashvili enjoyed a simpler route to the semi-finals but then had to face one of the most in-form players of the tournament in Casper Ruud and he totally outplayed the Norwegian to reach the final. Basilashvili has one ATP title to his name already this year and that experience could see him through a tough battle. The pair played recently in the quarter-finals of the Sardegna Open where Basilashvili overcame Struff in three sets and we could be in for more of the same here. If this were a hard court, Struff would be the likelier winner but take Georgia’s star Basilashvili to win a second title this season.
