World number 70 Heather Watson became the first British woman to reach the semi-finals of the Birmingham Classic this century with an assured straight-sets victory over Donna Vekic this morning. Both she and next opponent Ons Jabeur were forced to play their quarter-finals from 11:00 am after rain washed-out play yesterday so the playing field is level for a first meeting on tour here. 26-year-old Jabeur made short work of beating Anastasia Potapova after a much tougher match against Leylah Fernandez in the round of 16 and despite playing the villain of the piece she is the solid favourite to come through this test. World number 24 Jabeur should have designs on the title here tomorrow so take her to win this semi-final outright.
