THE PREDICTION

Vasek Pospisil has a real knack for upsets and claimed one of his biggest wins of the year against compatriot Felix Auger-Aliassime in the first round with a convincing straight-sets performance. The 30-year-old has struggled for consistency since returning from injury late last season but he is miles better than his current ranking at world number 81 and a really engaging player to watch. He faces the world number six here in Daniil Medvedev who is yet to be challenged in Vienna after a first round win over lucky loser Jason Jung. Medvedev and Pospisil have one win apiece in there head-to-head record, with the Canadian getting the better of the Russian earlier this year. That win should affect the outcome here but not in the way Pospisil would hope, as Medvedev will be wary of their last meeting in Rotterdam. Pospisil has every chance of the win here but Medvedev is unlikely to let that happen twice in a row, so back the Russian to come through what should be one of the bets matches of the tournament so far.
