THE PREDICTION
Austrian wildcard Jurij Rodionov has his hands full as he faces the eighth seed Denis Shapovalov in the first round of the Vienna Open. The presence of a limited crowd should aid the youngster some way but his recent five-set success over Jeremy Chardy in the first round of the French Open is a lower ceiling than beating the world number 12 on his favoured surface. Shapovalov ended last season in blistering form and will hope to emulate that this year, though he will have to put a disappointing loss to Gilles Simon at last week’s Cologne Open 2 behind him. The home crowd could embolden Rodionov’s spirit to a tiebreak or two here but ultimately Shapovalov should be winning this match in straight sets.
