THE PREDICTION
Attila Balazs came through a couple of unlikely qualifying matches to reach the main Vienna Open draw after he beat two seasoned doubles players in Rajeev Ram and Bruno Soares in straight sets. His reward is a tricky but potentially winnable fixture against world number 31 Hubert Hurkacz, who is not in the most sparkling form of his young career. The young Polish prospect did beat Andrey Rublev at the Italian Open last month but has otherwise had some middling form since the re-start of the season. 32-year-old Balazs will be eager for this test and was victorious in their only previous tour-level meeting at the Budapest Open in his native Hungary. Nevertheless, Hurkacz is a level above his opponent here and, while it could be tight, he should navigate his way through to the round of 16.
