Borna Coric lost a second consecutive St. Petersburg Open final in his most recent tournament, this time to Andrey Rublev, but the Croatian showed some of the hard-court form he is well capable of. The world number 24 beat two of the biggest servers around in Reilly Opelka and Milos Raonic en route to the final and he will face another powerful player here in Taylor Fritz. The 22-year-old American has faltered since the re-start of the season after a good start to 2020, having lost to Rafael Nadal in the final of the Acapulco Open before covid-19 forced its suspension, and looks likely to lose out here. Not least because Coric already holds a healthy 3-0 lead in their head-to-head record with a win on each surface. The Croatian could be a dark horse for a deep run here in Vienna and should start with a decent win here.
