Yuichi Sugita has qualified for the first round of the US Open for just the third time in his career so the 31-year-old will be keen to do well and get a win under his belt. He faces talented youngster Ugo Humbert and the 22-year-old French player is gaining confidence in every Grand Slam he plays. He managed to reach the fourth round at Wimbledon last year but he will be hoping for a better showing than last week where he lost in straight sets to Grigor Dimitrov. He has the talent and all-round game to overcome Sugita although it may not be as comfortable as many expect. Sugita can certainly take a set off him if not two, so expect a win for Humbert in four or five sets.
