Whisper it quietly but former world number one Victoria Azarenka is playing some of the best tennis of her career right now and she was in stunning form in the quarters as she lost just one game in her 6-1, 6-0 destruction of Elise Mertens. Despite several lean years, Azarenka is playing some outstanding tennis and she will have to be at her best here as she faces Serena Williams who holds an 18-4 advantage in their previous meetings. If Azarenka can put that aside, her form at Flushing Meadows along with Serena’s stuttering play may see her spring the upset. Serena has been forced into a deciding set in her last three matches here and her consistency levels are not great. That said, her record here is sensational as she has reached the final the las two years so it is always difficult to discount her. Azarenka is on fire however and it would be no surprise if she made another fast start and blows Serena away early.
