World number one Novak Djokovic opens his Australian Open account mere days after winning a record-equalling 35^th Masters 1000 title at the Western & Southern Open and is undoubtedly the man to beat at this year’s US Open. The Serb – a three-time winner at this Grand Slam – remains unbeaten in 2020 and it will take something special to stop him winning an 18^th Grand Slam title at Flushing Meadows. His Bosnian opponent Damir Dzumhur will surely be cursing the draw but he has faced Djokovic twice before so this is not exactly uncharted territory for the Bosnian. His best hope is that Djokovic’s current off-court distractions affect his focus, or that the neck issues that occasionally cropped up last week rear their head again. The likelihood is though, that the US Open favourite will canter to a straight-sets win.
