THE PREDICTION
German number two Jan-Lennard Struff very nearly took out Stefanos Tsitsipas at last week’s Vienna Open and the 30-year-old looked in much better form than he has of late. Struff enjoyed some excellent form towards the end of last season on the hard courts and will hope to emulate something of that at this tournament before the close of the year. He will face Nikoloz Basilashvili, a man in dire form, for the second time this year having beaten the Georgian back in February before the covid-19 suspension. In fact, Struff was the start of what is now a seven-match losing streak for Basilashvili, not including the qualifier he lost in Vienna last week. That kind of form contrasts heavily with the German’s and this should be a straightforward two-set affair for Struff.
