THE PREDICTION
Hubert Hurkacz looked to be playing himself back into some hard-court form at the Vienna Open last week but the young Pole became one of Lorenzo Sonego’s many victims in the Italian’s incredible route the final. Sonego finishing as runner-up, and his straight-sets defeat of Novak Djokovic en-route, makes the defeat in Vienna look a little less disappointing in retrospect and Hurkacz can come into this Masters event with some confidence. The world number 33 has been handed a reasonably safe first round draw against Moldova’s Radu Albot, who is in no such form to be beating Hurkacz here, and the 23-year-old should come through this in straight-sets.
