THE PREDICTION

Rafael Nadal appeared to show no signs of rust on his return to competitive action as he barely broke sweat in a comprehensive 6-1, 6-1 win over Pablo Carreno Busta on Wednesday and that’s bound to have filled the Spaniard with confidence that he can win a 10^th Italian Open title this week. Standing in his way in the third round is Dusak Lajovic who, up until this tournament, had not won a game since the ATP Tour resumed. The Serb looks to have found a bit of rhythm though and looked decent in his second-round win over 13^th seed Milos Raonic, but Nadal is likely to blow him off the court here. It may not be quite as one-sided as Nadal’s first match, but the King of Clay should get this done and dusted in two sets.
