THE PREDICTION
Kevin Anderson was two sets to the good up against Dusan Lajovic in his second-round match on Thursday but survived a comeback to eventually come through in five and he now matches up against one of the most exciting players on tour right now in what should be a fascinating contrast in styles. Rublev came through a five-set battle of his own in the first round but was much-improved in his four-set victory over Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina on Thursday. This is only the Russian’s second appearance in the main draw at Roland-Garros but, as proved by his impressive triumph at the Hamburg Open last week, his game is well suited to the red dirt. It may take him a few games to get a look on Anderson’s undeniably fearsome serve but if he can get into rallies and put pressure on the South African, he will likely wear the veteran down who may be feeling the fatigue from his battle on Thursday. A four-set victory for Rublev is the prediction.
