THE PREDICTION
Marton Fucsovics has saved his best tennis this year for the Grand Slams this year having reached the fourth round of the Australian Open, the third of the US Open and now the fourth round here at Roland-Garros but he has never before contested a quarter-final at a major and that is the prospect awaiting him should he overcome Andrey Rublev here. Rublev, though, has been on a tear in 2020 and has improved with each round in Paris having come through in five, four and three sets respectively from his three matches. The Russian was particularly impressive in his 6-2, 6-2, 6-3 victory over Kevin Anderson last time out with his forehand firing down plenty of winners, and it is that weapon which could be the key to unlocking this match. So far he has used it to great effect and Fucsovics may struggle to deal with the barrage that is likely to come his way. Rublev is simply getting better and better and we’re confident in tipping him for a four-set victory.
