Dan Evans went the long way around in his first round match with Salvatore Caruso but ecentually came through to the round of 16 with a three set win. He now faces Frances Tiafoe almost exactly one year on from their last meeting when the American beat Evans in straight sets at the Swiss Indoors. 22-year-old Tiafoe was in similarly impressive form when he took out the sixth seed here, Dusan Lajovic, in straight sets yesterday. With their head-to-head record finely poised on one win apiece, and some lacking recent form from both players, a result is difficult to call here. Considering Evans’ recent matches, both victories and defeats, have gone to a decider it would be reasonable to suggest he and Tiafoe can go the distance here in Antwerp.
