THE PREDICTION

It is fourth seed versus fifth seed here as Grigor Dimitrov faces Milos Raonic for a sixth time in their careers with the head-to-head record at 3-2 to the Bulgarian. The pair share a lot of similarities career-wise: with both 29-year-olds reaching a career-high 3rd in the ATP rankings during their careers and poised as they now next to each other at 19th and 20th - Raonic one place ahead. This match appears to be balanced on a knife-edge, then, and will depend largely on how far Dimitrov can improve his game from a three-set round of 16 victory over Pablo Andujar. He will need to be at his best to get past the Canadian who has served 36 aces so far over just four sets of play. It should come down to tiebreaks if Dimitrov performs to his ability but Raonic has looked focused and could come through here in tough straight-sets.

This match has been cancelled due to Milos Raonic pulling out of the European Open citing injury. Grigor Dimitrov is handed a walkover to the semi-finals.
