Tennys Sandgren will be hoping for better as he swaps St. Petersburg for Cologne after a poor first round defeat to Russian wildcard Aslan Karatsev. He faces Pierre-Hugues Herbert for the first time here in a similar run of middling form but know he should have enough to beat the Frenchman. Herbert won the doubles event here in Cologne last week with his partner Nicolas Mahut and may find the motivation lacking against Sandgren, who is always more than happy to go the distance. The American should be able to power his way through the round of 16.
