Tennis Analyst vacancy - apply now!

TSZ Content are looking for a Tennis Analyst who will be responsible for writing tennis previews and predictions for our website. If you know your clay-court specialists from your grass court-supremos, this could be the role for you!

ABOUT US

Founded in 2015, TSZ Content is a small dynamic company based in Altrincham, with expertise in the application of data science and analysis to sport. www.thestatszone.com is one arm of the business and focuses primarily on betting-focused predictions for a variety of sports.

We are on the lookout for experts in specific sports who can provide our readers with informed analysis. We want human voices, so ChatGPT drones need not apply!

ROLE

The core focus of the position will be to research, write and publish regular prediction articles for ATP & WTA tennis matches taking place throughout the year. An understanding of betting terms and tennis markets is integral to the content we produce.

Working hours will revolve around the tennis calendar, which can change day-to-day and week-to-week as tournaments take place across different time-zones. As a general rule, more hours are required early in the week when ATP & WTA events are typically in their early stages. Unsociable hours – including some weekend work – is a given for this role.

Background research into the players being written about is necessary for ensuring that content is well-informed, accurate and up-to-date.

We are based in Altrincham, Greater Manchester and while there will be the opportunity to work in our office throughout the week, home-based applicants will also be considered. The role is suitable for freelancers with a monthly schedule produced in advance and paid on a daily rate.

The successful applicant will report to our Sports Content Manager, who will be responsible for setting the weekly workload.

ABOUT YOU

Naturally, a strong knowledge and passion for both men’s and women’s tennis is essential for this role. We aren’t looking for an individual with a passive interest in the sport, but rather someone who follows it all year round and is capable of transferring that enthusiasm to the content they produce.

You should be capable of producing high-quality analytical articles at speed, whilst maintaining accuracy in grammar, punctuation and syntax. You will often need to work unsupervised, so attention to detail is paramount when self-proofing.

We value the qualities offered by self-starters. You will be highly-organised, motivated to work and set targets independently, and be comfortable with meeting regular deadlines.

This isn’t an absolute requirement, but if you have developed a social media presence/following for sports journalism, or tennis specifically, then this would be advantageous.

THE DETAILS

This is a part-time freelancer role on a contractor basis. You are responsible for declaring what you earn to the relevant authorities.

Fees are agreed on an hourly/daily rate and will be agreed in advance of any work undertaken. Fees are paid promptly on a monthly basis.

Role: Initially part-time contractor, potentially moving to full-time eventually

Location: Altrincham, Greater Manchester / Home-based

Requirements: You provide all the necessary equipment to fulfil the duties

Hours: Flexible / project-based

HOW TO APPLY

Same drill as any gig really – we need a CV from you please. We don’t need a long cover letter – just scribble an email explaining the motivation behind your application and sell yourself to us.

If you are able to direct us towards relevant examples of your published work, please do so.

Prospective applicants should be prepared to conduct a short exercise as part of the application process. More details will be provided after the initial recruitment stage. Please only apply if you are willing to spend the time and energy to do the exercise!

Send your application to [email protected] by Monday, March 17 at 6pm UK time. Given the vast number of applicants we have received from similar jobs posted, we will only reply to those who we will invite to the next stage of the process. If you have not heard from us by the end of that week, you can assume we will not be taking your application further. Thanks for your understanding.

We are sticklers for strong and unique applications, so take your time, read this page carefully, and only apply if you are seriously interested in the role!

And our last note – Recruitment consultants, you can also save your time! We will be managing these roles directly!
