Taylor Townsend vs Belinda Bencic prediction
Taylor Townsend continued her run at the Canadian Open as she beat Marie Bouzkova to reach the third-round. Townsend had already beaten Tereza Valentova in straight sets in the opening round and followed that up with a 7-6 (4) 7-5 win over fellow Czech Bouzkova. She is now into round three of a WTA 1000 event for the second time this season, following the Italian Open.
She faces Belinda Bencic next. The Swiss picked up her first ever win against Sloane Stephens as she comfortably booked her place in the next round. Bencic conceded just one break point as she strolled to a 6-3 6-1 victory after one hour and 36 minutes.
Bencic leads the head-to-head 1-0 after a victory at the Charleston Open back in 2019, but this is their first match against each other on a hard court. She will look to absorb Townsend’s aggression with her exceptional returning and hope to create numerous opportunities in the process.
