Taylor Fritz squeezed past Sebastian Korda to get through to the semi-finals of the Dallas Open. There were some worrying early signs for the world number seven as he received treatment for an elbow injury and lost the first set on a tiebreak. Nevertheless, he broke for the first time on his way to levelling the match up in the second. The decider went to another breaker, with Fritz staging a magnificent turnaround from 5-2 down as he won the last five points to seal a 6-7 (2) 6-4 7-6 (5) win.
He will now play Marin Cilic for a place in the final. The Croatian kept up his strong form this week as he overpowered Jack Pinnington Jones to win in straight sets. Cilic was not broken yet again as he won 85% of his first serve points on his way to a 6-1 6-4 win.
Fritz leads the head-to-head 2-1 but Cilic did win their only previous meeting indoors. Neither player has dropped their serve in the last two matches, and Cilic will be confident of pulling off an upset against Fritz, who is clearly battling several physical problems.
