Taylor Fritz vs Jan Choinski prediction
Taylor Fritz is seeking a fifth title at the Eastbourne Open as he begins his defence against Jan Choinski. The American’s grass court season has been largely excellent, but without a tournament victory to show for it. He began at the Stuttgart Open as the defending champion and reached another final, but lost to Ben Shelton. Fritz then defeated Shelton on his way to a second successive final in Halle, but he produced a laboured display as he was beaten by Frances Tiafoe in straight sets. Fritz is one of the best grass court players on the tour, and he will be hoping to go one step further this week.
He plays Choinski in his opening match after receiving a bye. The Brit notched up a fine win in his first-round match as he recovered from a poor start to beat Alexei Popyrin in three sets. Popyrin threatened to run away with things as he comfortably took the first set, but Choinski went on to seal a 1-6 6-2 6-2 win.
Fritz is the favourite to win this event yet again, and he will be expected to comfortably make it through to the quarters.
