Taylor Fritz vs Hubert Hurkacz prediction

Taylor Fritz pocketed a solid opening win in Geneva as he downed Quentin Halys 6-4 7-6 to set up a showdown with Hubert Hurkacz in the last eight.

The American top seed may not have played much clay court tennis leading into Roland-Garros, but he looked sharp as he fired 29 winners and swatted away three of the four break points faced to ease through a straight sets success.

It sets up a sixth tour-level meeting with sixth seed Hurkacz, who outclassed Arthur Rinderknech 6-4 6-1 to continue his resurgence.

Fritz has won the last three meetings including a tight 6-4 5-7 7-6 victory in the final of the United Cup earlier this year.

The world number four also won their only other clash on clay, prevailing 7-6 6-4 in Madrid last year.

Hurkacz’s big weapon is the serve and forehand plus-one, but in these sort of conditions Fritz should be able to neutralise him and in lengthier exchanges the Pole simply isn’t as good.
