Taylor Fritz reached his second final in the space of a week as he beat top seed Alexander Zverev for the seventh time in succession. The American dropped the first set but crucially broke towards the end of sets two and three to win 6-7 (4) 6-4 7-5. Fritz won 85% of his points on first serve and hammered down 19 aces. He saved a match point in his quarter-final match against Ben Shelton.
Frances Tiafoe will be Fritz’s opponent in the final. He enjoyed a comfortable win against Daniel Altmaier, winning 6-1 6-3. Tiafoe needed three sets to beat Altmaier at the Stuttgart Open last week, but he only conceded one break point in this match.
Fritz dominates the head-to-head as he leads 7-1, but this will be their first match on grass. The 2024 US Open champion has been very sharp this week and if his first serve is firing from the start, he will be difficult to stop.
