Taylor Fritz vs Brandon Nakashima prediction
Taylor Fritz advanced to the next stage of the Dallas Open after a battling win over Marcos Giron. Fritz, who is struggling with a persistent knee problem, needed a medical timeout after just the fifth service game but he still took the first set after breaking for the first time when Giron was serving to stay in it. Giron levelled the match up in the second set and no breaks of serve in the decider resulted in a tiebreak. Fritz upped his aggression and dominated the breaker to seal a 6-4 5-7 7-6 (1) win.
He will now face Brandon Nakashima for a place in the quarter-finals after he beat Mattia Bellucci in straight sets. Nakashima did not even concede a break point on his serve as sealed a comfortable 6-3 6-4 win after just one hour and eight minutes.
The head-to-head is 2-1 in Fritz’s favour, though Nakashima did win their last meeting in Cincinnati, which was in 2024. The world number seven is clearly struggling physically but his serve is still such a weapon in these conditions. He powered down 21 aces and won 81% of his first serve points against Giron, and a similar performance against Nakashima would give him a strong chance of victory.
