Taylor Fritz vs Alex de Minaur Prediction

Taylor Fritz is coming off an outstanding week at the ATP Finals in Turin where he lost in the final to Jannik Sinner and the American star will take plenty of confidence from his displays.

Fritz ends the year ranked number four in the world which is his highest-ever ranking. It has been some year for the 27-year-old and he will be fired up to now continue that form for his country.

He faces a familiar foe in Alex de Minaur who he met in the ATP Finals last week and edged a three-set thriller. There was very little between the two players but Fritz just had that extra bit in his game. De Minaur leads the head-to-head 5-4 however.

The 25-year-old was a shock inclusion in the Australian team but after returning from injury and putting in some strong performances to end the year, De Minaur put the call in to skipper Leyton Hewitt to participate.

The Aussies themselves will be just as pumped up as the Americans to go far this year given they have not won the Davis Cup since 2003. De Minaur will be desperate to get them off to a strong start and he will fancy his chances against Fritz.

He may not have won any of his three matches at the ATP Finals in Turin last week but the court time will only benefit him. Whether he can overturn that loss to Fritz last week in Turin remains to be seen. We can see this match going deep and while we marginally favour Fritz to get the win, we just about edge the game betting here.
