Taylah Preston vs Alina Korneeva prediction

Taylah Preston produced the shock of the Korea Open so far as she defeated top seed Jelena Ostapenko in straight sets to progress to the quarter-finals. Preston was rarely troubled and completely dominated the second set to win 6-4 6-1. It was a significant improvement on her opening match, when she required a decider to win against Himeno Sakatsume. The 20-year-old has enjoyed a breakthrough season, having recently made her top 100 debut. She also recorded her first US Open main draw victory last month, beating Alycia Parks.

Alina Korneeva will be her next opponent, after the teenager’s three set win over Darya Astakhova. The 19-year-old impressed last month with her run to the round-of-16 at the Cincinnati Open. She is now through to her second tour-level quarter-final of 2026.

Korneeva is improving and has also enjoyed the more consistent season up to this point. Preston will be full of confidence after that win over Ostapenko, but Korneeva remains the favourite.
