Tallon Griekspoor vs Sho Shimabukuro prediction
Tallon Griekspoor was unable to produce a deep run at the Libema Open last week. He beat fellow Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp in round one but then lost in straight sets to Zhizhen Zhang. Other than a superb run to the final of the Dubai Tennis Championships, it’s been a frustrating season for Griekspoor both in terms of form and fitness.
He begins his Halle Open campaign against Sho Shimabukuro. The Japanese player impressed in Stuttgart last week, as he advanced all the way from qualifying to the last eight. This included coming from a set down to beat Nick Kyrgios. He was on course for the semi-finals as he took the first set against Ben Shelton, but he lost in three.
Griekspoor leads the head-to-head 1-0 after a win at the Astana Open three years ago, but this will be their first meeting on grass. If Shimabukuro can reproduce the level he showed in Stuttgart, he can certainly trouble Griekspoor.
Tallon Griekspoor vs Sho Shimabukuro tip: Both players to win a set
